FAQ About Hair Extensions by Great Lenghts
Frequently asked questions
Are Great Lengths 100% human hair extensions suitable for everyone?
A: Hair extensions are a cosmetic procedure and they should be applied to healthy hair. Hair must be at least 5 - 8 centimeters in length to provide comfortable attachments. There are some medical conditions that may make a minority of clients unsuitable for extensions, which is why Great Lengths certified salons are required to offer a free, no obligation consultation. At this stage the client's suitability can be ascertained and the salon can be confident they can produce a high quality result.
Are human hair extensions better, and why?
A: Great Lengths only use 100% human hair because it behaves like your own real hair. Human extensions are better because they create a more natural look and effect. This means our extensions can be styled using heated tools and straighteners, as well as being professionally colored and permed. They are also suitable for most lifestyle activities. So there really are no limits to what you can do when wearing Great Lengths extensions.
Will hair extensions damage the clients' own hair?
A: No. If hair extensions are attached by a professionally trained stylist and they are properly maintained by the clients, Great Lengths extensions should not damage your hair. Our hair is 100% natural and the bond has been formulated using a special blend of polymers that replicate the molecular structure of keratin. Keratin is a protein from which natural hair is made so if your extensions are maintained in the recommended way, no problems should occur.
How long will my Great Lengths extensions last?
A: By following our simple maintenance program, extensions can last up to 5 months using our Classic and Cold Fusion systems and up to 4 months with the Fast Fusion system. Using Great Lengths aftercare products will also prolong the life of extensions as they are designed to protect the hair and the bond.
How should I look after my hair extensions when they're in?
A: Simply follow the guidelines set out on your consultation form and the advice explained to you in detail by your trained stylist. You will also be invited to a free maintenance check after approximately 3-4 weeks.
Where can I find a salon that offers Great Lengths extensions?
A: Our customer service centre is trained to direct any queries generated from our vast marketing and public relations activity to the most convenient certified salon. And, with an easy to use salon locator on our website, potential customers will have another opportunity to find you.
There have been some stories in the media about the unethical practices of some hair extension manufacturers. Should I be concerned about Great Lengths?
A: Absolutely not. Great Lengths prides itself on being 100% ethical and 100% traceable hair. We would recommend anyone interested in hair extensions to research where the hair has come from. Our hair is Indian temple hair and because we are the only extension company to process our own hair, we can confidently guarantee the traceability of ever strand. Please take the time to read our ethical statement on this.
Q: There have been similar stories about damage to my hair.
A: Great Lengths are passionate about training their certified extensionists in the correct application so not to pull on your own hair and cause breakage. Ask your extensionist to see their certification.
Are hair extensions expensive?
A: Great Lengths salons will offer you a full consultation to discuss your hairstyle requirements. Only then will they be able to give you a price for your new look and this can be tailored to suit your budget. Great Lengths hair extensions can last up to 5 months with the correct maintenance and care and, as they are 100% human hair extensions, they can be styles just like your own hair – so have fun and enjoy them!
How long does it take for hair extensions to be applied?
A: This depends on how many extensions you are having and the application system being used. For example with either the Classic or Cold Fusion system you can have half a head of extension applied in approximately 2 hours. However, with the Fast Fusion method this can less than an hour! Your stylist will be able to discuss this with you further at your consultation.
Are hair extensions difficult to style?
A: Because Great Lengths extensions are 100% human hair they can be treated in just the same way as your own hair –straighten, curl, perm and even color . However, we do recommend using Great Lengths styling range of products to help keep the hair in tip top condition.
Do I have to get a full head of hair extensions?
A: You can have as many extensions as you need to achieve the look you want – even a few simple strands can make a huge difference. Either a splash of color or add a little more volume. The possibilities are endless – visit our gallery for more inspiration.
How do the extensions get removed?
A: You need to go back to your salon that has the specially formulated Great Lengths removal gel. When applied this gel gently breaks down the bond and with the removal tool, the extensionist is able to slide the bond down your own hair with no damage to your own hair.
What will my hair be like when I remove the extensions?
A: Once you have had your extensions removed, your hair needs to be washed and conditioned with the Great Lengths products to clean away and residue from the removal gel. Your hair will be completely undamaged by the extensions and look a little longer than you remember. Once you have experienced Great Lengths hair extensions, we are sure you will not be able to live without out them! |
